Dr. Sarkar did his M.Sc. in Geography from Presidency college, Calcutta University and M.Sc. in Forestry, from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun; MBA / PGPPM (Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and management. He did his Ph.D. in Botany at Bharathidasan University, Trichy and his thesis was highly commanded by the authorities.
